Since we all slept in ’til 10:30 we missed the 7:00 breakfast! In fact we were just in time for lunch at 11:15. After lunch, Sue, Mynie, and I played the tourist by sitting in our deck chairs from 1:00 til 4:00 complete with blankets and sunglasses.
At 4:00 we had tea and at 6:00 dinner which was very good. Wrote some post-cards and letters and at 10:30 went to see the movie, The Sheepman.
In The Sheepman, Jason Sweet (Glenn Ford) travels to a western town to raise his sheep but finds resistance from the townsfolk – this is cattle town. He runs into problems with a wealthy cattle baron Stephen Bedford, played by Leslie Nielsen (best known for his role as Frank Drebin in Police Squad! and The Naked Gun movie series). To further the conflict, Sweet finds himself attracted to Bedford’s fiancée Dell Payton (Shirley MacLaine).
After losing the support of the town in his efforts to get rid of Sweet, Bedford eventually hires a professional to take care of it. Gunman Chocktaw Neal (Pernell Roberts), has a history with Sweet – he killed his fiancée. Things come to a satisfying conclusion with Sweet besting Neal, winning a showdown with Bedford, and getting the girl.
